Team Invictus Wins the 2023 CrossFit Games!

“Going for Gold”… This was our team’s mantra throughout the season and they went out all weekend and achieved their goal of becoming the Fittest Team on Earth. After a 3rd at last year’s games, Jorge, Brittany, Josh, and Devyn set out on a mission to stand atop the podium. With only one event finish outside of the top 5 Team Invictus did not relinquish the red leaders jersey at all throughout the weekend. The highlight of the weekend came Saturday morning when they would have back-to-back 1st place finishes in “Lift Run Relay” and “Muscle-Up Bob”. We are so proud of this team for bringing the sea of green their second-ever affiliate cup. Learn more about the athletes who make up our Home Grown Team Invictus.

Invictus at the 2023 CrossFit Games

Invictus was well-represented at this year’s Games and we are super proud of all of our athletes and their grit throughout the week. With three teams, one individual male, nine age group athletes, coaches, and a team of supporters, it was hard not to notice our presence in Madison.

We rely on our Sea of Green for our athletes’ success. This is just a few of the crew who competed and supported the athletes throughout the week. Not pictured, Mama Karen and Pops who have been integral to our success each and every one of the 15 years we have taken athletes to Games. They are missing from this photo because they are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure all the athletes are fed and generally well taken care of.

Team Invictus Unconquerable

Team Invictus Unconquerable posing at the 2023 CrossFit Semi-Finals.

Team Invictus Unconquerable came into the competition with three first-time Games competitors in Tyler, Emily, and Jessi. They were led by longtime Invictus Athlete, Eric Carmody with multiple games appearances under his belt. The highlight of the weekend came for Team Unconquerable when they would take 3rd place in the 5k run! Unfortunately, due to an injury of one of the teammates during the Olympic Total event, Unconquerable had to medically withdraw from the remainder of the competition. They were able to keep their heads up and hold onto a positive attitude throughout the weekend. They even had their own dance party during their first-ever coliseum event. This crew is more than motivated for next year and we can’t wait to see what a full off-season of training does for them to come back even stronger.

Invictus Sea of Green

These guys…Named “Sea of Green” came together as a team with all first-time Games competitors. They fought hard all week and put on a great show as they were able to make it past the first cut of teams allowing them to continue competing until Saturday night. The highlight of the competition came for this team during the “Bike Row Hold”. This event tested their engine and gymnastics skills which allowed all of their team members to showcase the skills they are best at. They made serious waves this year and we couldn’t be more proud of their effort throughout the week.

Invictus Men’s Athlete

Chandler Smith

Chandler and his wife, Jessi (who was on Team Invictus Unconquerable) made the move to San Diego this past year to join the Invictus Camp and we couldn’t be more pleased. Their positive energy and hard work have permeated not only the other athletes at camp but the entire Invictus San Diego gym community. Chandler sat as high as 3rd place throughout the weekend and finished in 7th overall, a huge feat in a super competitive field of men. We will dedicate a separate post to his performance and experience throughout the week. Coming soon…

Invictus Age Group Athletes

This group was AMAZING and therefore deserves its own separate article. But to sum it up…10 athletes, 6 podiums finishes, 4 age group division champs! Read more about these athletes…

Invictus Masters & Athlete Programs

Invictus Athlete+ and Masters+ are our preferred program and are what our Games athletes follow. They are designed for athletes looking to compete in the sport of fitness beyond the CrossFit Open. You will follow the Invictus Athlete Program or Masters (you have access to both) but we have built in several additional options in the training program that will allow athletes to prioritize elements of their fitness that need the most work. Each day incorporates a mix of primary work that all athletes will perform, and accessory options that athletes will select based on their specific needs. This comprehensive training program will incorporate all facets of strength, skill and energy system development into your training, and also address the areas preventing you from reaching your full potential. Masters+ also places a year round emphasis on mobility and stability exercises, and movements that we have seen directly benefit master athletes.

If you want to follow one of these programs but don’t have the desire to compete past the Open and/or don’t have the time for additional sessions each day, then the Athlete and Masters versions are exactly what you’re looking for. They include everything mentioned above except the accessory options and will allow you to complete your daily program in 90 minutes or less. Check out our full array of programming (including options for general health and fitness) on the Invictus SugarWOD Marketplace.

Off-Season Cycle
