Equipoise is the brand name of the anabolic steroid Boldenone. It is an oil-based injectable with an added undecylenate ester. Added ether helps increase half-life and release rate. They like to compare Equipoise to Nandrolone (Deca-Durabolin), but it’s not the best comparison because Nandrolone has different properties and a completely different class of compounds (19-nor or progestin). However, many consider Equipoise and Nandrolone to be interchangeable drugs, even in anabolic steroid cycles.

Equipoise was developed in 1949, before Dianabol (Methandrostenolone), which technically makes it the first synthetic testosterone derivative. Also, Dianabol itself is actually Equipoise (Boldenone). In general, Dianabol could be considered an oral form of equilibrium, but the methylation of the 17th carbon atom changed the properties of the compound so much that it began to be attributed to completely different anabolic steroid analogues and was called Methandrostenolone (Dianabol).

If we look at the images of the chemical structure of Equipoise and Dianabol, we can see that they have the same structure except for the methyl group attached to the 17 carbon element of the Dianabol structure. Otherwise, it’s pretty clear that these two anabolic steroids are pretty much the same thing.

Equipoise, developed in 1949, was not released until the 1960s under the Parenabol brand. Throughout this time, Ciba has been creating and testing various modifications of Equipoise, trying to attach esters to it and thus increase its half-life and release rate.

The final decision was the release of Undecylenate Boldenone, with the attached ester of the same name. Subsequently, from the late 1960s to the early 1970s, various studies and experiments were carried out with Parenabol for use as an anabolic steroid that stimulates and preserves muscle mass, used for the treatment of osteoporosis and diseases accompanied by emaciation and weight. lost. At the end of the 1970s, Parenabol was used in an extremely narrow area, and that is why the drug was taken out of production.

Subsequently, one of the companies will receive the patents for this anabolic steroid and relaunch Boldenone under the name Equipoise.

It is now a veterinary anabolic steroid used primarily in horses and less frequently in other animals. Equipoise is well known as a drug to increase muscle strength. Like all anabolic steroids, it stimulates the appetite, but unlike the others, it does so to a much higher (superlative) degree. Chemical characteristics

As mentioned above, Equipoise is a synthetic derivative of testosterone, with a modified structure, where double bonds are added between 1 and 2 carbons. This change reduces Equipoise’s ability to interact with aromatase (the enzyme responsible for converting androgens to estrogen). As a result, the estrogenic activity of Equipoise will be lower than that of testosterone. Equipoise is a boldenone with an undecylenate ester attached. “Undecylenate” – undecylenic acid, in interaction with boldenone, creates a bond called in chemistry ester (ester bond). In the chemical structure of boldenone, undecylenic acid is attached to a 17-beta-hydroxyl group. Adding this ester increases the release rate of the hormone and its half-life. As soon as boldenone undecylenate enters the bloodstream, enzymes in the body begin the process of breaking the bond between the ether and the hormone. The release of the main ether substance occurs at different rates, but as a result, enzymes remove the ester, and pure boldenone remains in the body, freely performing its function.This fermentation process with the release of the ester hormone has the effect of slowing down the rate of release of the main active ingredient. Summarizing the above, it can be noted that Undecylenate, along with Boldenone, increases the latter’s half-life by 14 days. Thus, without an ester, the hormone does not provide sufficiently slow release and necessary activity.

As stated at the beginning of this section, Equipoise and Dianabol are structurally identical. The only difference between the two is that Equipoise contains the Undecylenate ester attached to its 17beta hydroxyl group, while Dianabol contains a methyl group attached to the 17beta hydroxyl. Dianabol’s methyl group (also known as C17-alpha alkylation) helps prevent it from being metabolized and broken down by the liver when taken orally.

Except for this difference, these two hormones are absolutely identical and will hereinafter be considered as the same compound. However, upon entering the body, Equipoise and Dianabol manifest in different ways. This is very convincing evidence that the addition of a methyl group (C17-alpha alkylation) at carbon 17 not only affects the hormone’s resistance to liver breakdown, but alters the action and properties of the set of the anabolic steroid. .

Drug properties

But, in moderate doses, Equipoise should not cause water retention in the body or any other negative manifestations. At the same time, the risk of side effects will increase as the dose of the drug increases, since an increase in the equilibrium concentration in the body will symmetrically increase the rate of aromatization to estrogen.

The drug Equipoise itself is characterized by a low level of androgenic strength (lower than that of the parent hormone, testosterone).Such a positive moment is important for people sensitive to the manifestations of even minor androgenic side effects. With Equipoise, one can expect gains in strength, volume, and mass that are symmetrical to those achieved with testosterone, but with less evidence of estrogenic activity and androgenic side effects.
